The Gnawas are healers through music and trance, with secret powers transmitted from generation to generation.
The Gnawas from Morocco are musicians and healers whose roots are to be found among the country’s slaves. Ahmed Baqbou, who is one of the most prominent Gnawa musicians alive, takes the audience on a journey through the secret but nevertheless warmhearted and joyous universe of extremely talented musicians; men and women who communicate with spirits and possess invisible healing powers.

The French documentary director Pierre Guicheney is also a journalist and a writer who discovered the music of the Gnawaas in the 1980s. He explores its origins and the philosophy surrounding this ancient music form still unknown to many.
