Traditional customs make family a costly affair for Yaro who puts his trust in hard work and onions. A great docu-maker is born.
Salamatou’s father has struggled to arrange her wedding for two years now. When rumours are beginning to spread as to the reason for the delayed wedding, Salamatou’s parents-in-law are becoming increasingly impatient.

Yaro, the father of the bride-to-be, is an onion farmer, and onions are in fact the reason behind the delayed wedding. The film follows Yaro in his efforts to make enough money to marry off his daughter in style and in a way that tradition requires.

Sani Elhadj Magori’s acclaimed documentary, developed in collaboration with the documentary programme Africadoc, has been screened across the world and has won numerous prices.
