A solar eclipse is the absence of light, but for the mayor and the people of Morombe, it is the dawn of a new era.
Solohery, the newly elected mayor of Morombe in Madagascar, has ambitious plans for how to develop the small and isolated town. The only question is where to find the money needed to fix the terrible roads leading to Morombe - a town that does not even have telephones – and all the other things that need to be done to improve the lives of the inhabitants?

The solar eclipse in 2001 turns out to be a great opportunity for the town situated on the West coast, and which is the only place that offers the full experience of the special event.
