A portrait of slain Haitian journalist and activist Jean Dominique by Jonathan Demme, the director of “The Silence of the Lambs” and “Philadelphia”, with music by Wyclef.
“The Agronomist” gives life and voice to Jean Dominique, the Haitian radio journalist and Human Rights activist who was killed in 2000.

In his second documentary about Haiti, Jonathan Demme – the director of Hollywood blockbusters like “The Silence of the Lambs” and “Philadelphia” - tells the story of Jean Dominique and his wife and colleague Michèle Montas. Demme also tells the story of Haiti - the country that the activist couple loved and devoted their lives to improve.

Using his own footage of interviews with the slain journalist, recorded over a period of over 15 years, Jonathan Demme is not trying to solve the mystery of Dominique’s assassination just before the 2000 Haitian elections, but rather to pay tribute to the life and ideas of an activist, journalist and a friend.
