Director, Producer (Mauritius)

Gopalen Parthiben Chellapermal, a 51-year-old Mauritian director and producer, has started his career working on educational television programs.

In 2001 he creates, together with his partner David Constantin, the audiovisual production company Caméléon Production. Since 10 years, Gopalen has mostly produced David's documentaries and short movies.

In 2009, following the Écrire court scriptwriting workshop offered by Île Courts - International Short Film Festival of Mauritius, he makes his first short movie, Ruz (Red), and a short documentary, Gangway, which both have been screened at the Clermont Ferrand Festival in 2011. The same year, he shot the documentary Les Mo’zar de Roche Bois (The Mo'zar of Roche Bois), which won the Prix Fénèt Océan Indien, awarded to the best short documentary during the Festival International du Film d’Afrique et des Îles at Reunion island.

The documentary will be screened in the official selection of the Festival Vues d’Afrique in Montreal (Canada) in 2013.
