Director (Mauritius)

Stéphane Bellerose holds a degree in literature and history. He started out in film making as a trainee with the French director Francis Leroi. After a training in film professions offered by the Centre Charles Baudelaire (French cultural centre), he made a first fiction, Money (1999), that he presented at a short movies competition organised by the Mauritius Film Development Corporation. In 2000, Stéphane joined the film production company Clap Production, where he acquired experience in various types of audiovisual productions: television programmes, clips, concerts, documentaries, advertisements, company promotional films, etc.
To date, Stéphane has directed six short movies, and some of them have won prizes at local and regional festivals. La Ronde du Bonheur, a short film presented in 2008, was awarded the prize for the best short movie at the Festival Cinesesel in Seychelles. Stéphane is a member of the association Porteurs d'Images and after having participated to the first scriptwriting workshop organised by Île Courts–International Short Film Festival, he made the short movie Le Renard, l’ours et la souris (The fox, the bear, and the mouse) in 2009.
Stéphane has also been a teacher in film and television in a French high school in 2009. Since 2011, he produces advertisements and other promotional films for the national airline company, Air Mauritius.
