Born in October 13, 1952 in Charleroi, Belgium, Thierry Michel is a director, photographer and journalist. At 16 he began studying at the Institut des Arts de Diffusion in Brussels. In 1976, he joined the Belgian television where he produced numerous reports around the world. Then he devoted himself to the cinema.

Thierry Michel is now professor and teaches the "Cinéma du Réel" at the Institute of Broadcast Arts and at the University of Liege. He is the author of two books of photos / text on Africa and also runs numerous seminars on writing and filmmaking documentary around the world.
