Young King Bhambata leads the fight against an unfair local tax within the Natal Colony.
In 1906, the British introduce a new tax in the Natal Colony of Southern Africa. In order to force the black youth to plough white farmers’ lands they established a new tax pertaining to every black man over 18 years old, owner of a hut. Bambatha, the chief of the Amazondi Zulu clan will organize his community in order to fight against this law. With the advice of an older chief of a neighboring Zulu tribe, Bambatha will lead a rebellious movement. He became a hero and one of the first African chiefs to stand up against British colony. Other chiefs will follow his example and fight against injustice.

This documentary focuses on the unfair conditions that lead Bambatha and his people to fight back followed by the violent and the immoderate British reaction.
