Historic Fresco on the « Belgian Congolese» region, one of the richest regions in Africa. This document stands out by its original mix of archives and cartoons.
In this episode (#2), the Belgian Congolese region set up recently is shaken up by a clash of ideals. On one side there’s the White conservative community convinced of their legitimacy, and on the other hand the Black community torn between racial diversity and auto-determination. In 1908, under heavy criticism, King Leopold II yields the Independent State of Congo – which was until then his own, personal, private property (!) - to Belgium.
During the following half century, colons & natives groups will separately build the nation of Congo. This second episode deals with little known black and white figures whose actions and thoughts have played key roles in the history of Congo. Each character gives his point of view on one of the major pieces of the history of the XX century.
